Chapter 4 - Schober

I enjoy the image for Daffy’s. There is a picture of a men’s dress shirt making a crude gesture, and text reading, “The suggested retail price of this shirt is $125. We have a suggestion for whoever suggested it”. It takes a page out of the irony tactic, where both parties acknowledge the ad is trying to sell a product and try to have fun while doing it. I also love the tongue in cheek attitude, and the play on the industry word of “suggested”. It is clean, well balanced, and the typography is bold and standoffish, just like the image.

While this image isn't standoffish, it is very open about what it is advertising. It also chooses to do it in a fun way. Like the shirt image, it encourages a humorous dialogue with the consumer about its, by itself, very plain message.
