Kathie Trela - Dan May Presentation

I though Dan May’s presentation was pretty interesting. First of all, I liked the style he used in his posters and how he used design to inform people of his beliefs and values. He did say in his presentation that design is a communication and it is a way you inform people. A good example of that was his Evoil project and how deep and motivating that project was to me as a viewer. Also I liked how it was not only a print design, but there was a video and a website that created a cohesive communication. Additionally, he discussed how many of your designs will not get acknowledged and it is quite hard to please your clients. There is a long process working with our client and the ultimate goal is to please your client because of course, they are paying you to give them what they want. I found it valuable when he discussed how we should think about how we can change the world in a sense like when he discussed the plastic garbage. As designers, we do need to think creatively, but also responsibly regarding others and even the environment.
