The main point of my campaign is to bring fans and bands/producers together through design work. I created a facebook page and website mockup because I feel these two are the most important and appropriate mediums for the purpose. The title of the idea/campaign is called Bass Designs due to the influence on the electronic and music festival scene where sub-bass frequencies are most important.
The idea generated from the fact that bands’ logos are copyrighted and therefore can’t be sold without permission. Through this system, bands can sell their logos royalty free so designers can buy them and design clothing, wallpapers, posters, laptop cases, and miscellaneous objects like pins. Bass Designs would also have booths/merchandise stands at music festivals and popular shows selling materials there. On the website, I have created a past event section with the flyers for the events and then an upcoming events section with pictures of some popular music festivals since it’s about time for festival season.
I’ve included the twitter and facebook icons on the website for people to link to and follow the group by. I think this campaign is a great idea, it’s ambitious which is good and it is also possible because the scene is thriving with artwork and new producers, so I think with enough spreading and planning, it is an actual campaign I could pursue.
The website includes sections with participants, a store section where they can buy logos/designs and upload their own designs, and there is also a forum and events section. The forum would allow people to discuss previous or future designs as well as allow people to make requests. This campaign is focused towards the bands and fans of the music festival scene and particularly electronic music. Fans currently love artwork and bass music, so we just want to introduce them to this group in order to spread the word. The campaign is about respect and gives producers a chance to make some dollars on selling their logos royalty free, and allows fans to make and sell designs using those logos. The hardest part is getting producers to sell their logos, but with enough respect and popularity throughout the dub community, I think people would be on board. Some of the producers out there already have their vector logos to use for free on their websites, so I think some bands and producers would even be enthusiastic about the idea.
The website is created from scratch in photoshop/illustrator and the facebook page was screenshotted and edited.
