My target audience is cat lovers and crazy people like me that are nuts about cats and take weird pictures of them. I want them to feel excited, jolly, and creative. This campaign is mostly to advertise for Friskies, to expand stuffonmycat.com's popularity on the web, and to put random stuff on your cat and taking a picture in order to win free stuff.
Update:
1. What is the challenge?
To make stuffonmycat.com more popular and to advertise and
sell cat products by Friskies.
Each month, stuffonmycat.com will hold a contest for all
people who have a cat, a camera, a computer with internet, stuff, and a
creative, fun mind. These contests
will be sponsored by Friskies and each month there will a prize from Friskies
for a winner with the best photo. The prize will start out with 50% off coupon
and a free cat toy and later on, the prize may be free Friskies cat food. The
best photo will be determined by the number of votes it will receive. In order
to get many votes and to let others know about this, people may share their
submissions and urge their friends to vote mainly by Facebook, Twitter, and
Tumblr, but also Linkedin, E-mail, Yahoo, Stumbleupon, and many more. In order
to participate in these contests, people have to like Friskies Facebook page
and stuffonmycat.com’s Facebook page first. Plus for all new participants, they
will receive a 10% off Friskies coupon just for participating in the contests.
2. Who is the target audience?
Crazy cat lovers that love to take funny pictures of their
cat(s). But also for people who own a cat(s), but don’t take weird pictures of
them…yet. People who buy cat products like food and toys.
3. What does that audience currently think about the brand or group?
Crazy cat lovers already know about the amusement of
participating on stuffonmycat.com. Cat who like their cat know about
stuffonmycat.com, but do not participate or some never even heard of the site.
Both of these groups know about Friskies products some may be frequent
customers and some may never purchased their cat products. However, this
campaign wants to promote Friskies with prizes and coupons.
4. What would we like the audience to think and feel?
Friskies sells delicious and quality products for my cat. Taking pictures of my
cats is fun and I should tell my friends and others about it.
5. Which facts, evidence, or thoughts will assist in this change of thinking?
Friskies offers a variety of food and treats that cats will
love. Plus for participating, people will get a coupon for 10% off Friskies
food and the grand prize of each winner is more coupons or free Friskies food.
On stuffonmycat.com, there will Friskies advertisements such as print ads and
video ads.
6. What is the brand essence?
Quality, delicious/nutritious for cats, but also fun,
exciting, creative
7. What is the key emotion?
Amused because this is all about having fun with your cat
and sharing it with others. Afterwards, your cat gets a reward by getting
Friskies food and treats.
8. What media to facilitate this goal?
The main media will be Facebook and Twitter because those are major social
media groups, but also Tumblr because that site is full of cat photos.
9. What are the most critical elements?
The sharing aspect because this is where the participant
shares their photo with their friends and others. This will let others know
about the contest and the prize.
10. What is the single most important takeaway?
Friskies provides owners with nutritious and delicious food for
their cat(s).
I like how you are combining these two ideas. I think that this will definitely work since it is such a tight target. You can also expand your use of social media and use instagram of pintrest as well. I like the idea of using a camera brand, but that might be too narrow of a target base since you are using cats, cat food, and a specific camera brand, but it still might work!
ReplyDeleteI love your idea, and I love that you are going to advertise on icanhascheezburger.com. It's perfect, unique, and targeting a strong detailed audience.
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny and will really engage people. People love to look at pictures, hence the popularity of blogs and sites like tumblr, facebook etc. I think if target to the right audience it will be very successful. Any ideas for us who happen to be dog people?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Marie, people love to look at funny pictures. I find myself spending hours online looking at random stuff. I think this is a clever campaign and could definitely have strong following on social media.
ReplyDeleteThis is silly. I find cat pictures hilarious (see: ninjacats). Like everyone else said, try to incorporate other SM outlets too. I like that you provide incentive for people to participate.
ReplyDeleteThis is a funny idea that I think would probably be really effective. If you want to add a social media aspect Tumblr may make more sense, though. In fact, you could make the site a Tumblr and just alter the code. That way you could easily track the popular of pictures based on like/shares.
ReplyDeleteFun, creative idea. I like cats but I'm not obsessed, so you definitely got a specific audience. Linking this to facebook is smart because people are always taking weird pictures of their cats on there, so this would be prime for them.
ReplyDeleteThis seems like it will be an entertaining app and can't wait to see the final product. Just an idea each month or so you can have the top voted users go into a competition to win something more than food, maybe like a scratch post or anything else that cats use. Which would be an incentive for people to keep going back to your app and posting and using it.
ReplyDeleteI like the combination of the product and the website a lot because it's an easy idea that I think people would actually partake in and enjoy. however, i don't think it's necessary to also link into nikon or cannon because I feel like many people who take funny picture on the internet just use their camera phones, so it'd probably be easier to link with something like instagram.
ReplyDeletelmao... the things people come up with... i am curious how you found out about this site... did you stumble upon this or are you a cat lover that say this advertised online to you as a target audience in the first place?
ReplyDeleteI think this idea is funny and using something as common as Friskies will help promote the lesser known sites.
ReplyDeleteI think this is hilarious. I love that you are aiming towards a slightly different target market, and I think this could potentially be really successful.
ReplyDeleteI love the original site and your idea. Great way to promote a well known brand digitally.
